Tottenham attacker ‘considering Chinese Super League move’

Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente is considering a move to the Chinese Super League this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Llorente joined Spurs from Swansea City last summer but endured a torrid debut season in north London, scoring just one Premier League goal.

Despite an impressive display alongside Harry Kane in Tottenham’s 1-1 draw at Real Madrid in the Champions League, it soon became clear Mauricio Pochettino was not willing to pair the two strikers.

Llorente was also rarely used as a deputy for Kane, with Heung-Min Son and Erik Lamela being picked to play through the middle when Kane suffered an ankle injury in March.

As a result, Llorente – who has 12 months remaining on his current contract – is expected to leave Spurs in the coming weeks.

And according to Spanish outlet Marca, the 33-year-old is considering offers from a number of potential destinations, including the Chinese Super League.

Mousa Dembele has also been linked with a move to China – he, too, has just one year remaining on his present deal.

Llorente will be no big loss to Tottenham. The club is likely to sign a more able deputy to Kane before the start of the new season.
